According to Michael Fullan, when individuals are required to explain themselves to each other, they become clearer about what they are doing and why. When many individuals and groups begin to talk the walk, they create a context for new applications and innovative practices. Talking the walk also helps to eliminate irrelevant activities and can free up time and energy for ideas and strategies that hold real promise for progress. In St. Helena Schools, talking the walk means making sure that teachers and even students and parents understand and can explain how the school district is organized for learning and why. We plan to address learning gaps created by COVID-19 and Hurricane Ida by focusing on the major content of the grade, ensuring our students learn basic skills needed to pass standardized assessments, and be proficient with mastery of content. This page is for teachers who need resources specifically for academic acceleration.
